Fun DIY Sock Bouquets!!

As both a Mom and a Daughter, I completely believe in homemade Mother’s Day gifts.  I love getting these sweet gifts from my kiddos and I totally love giving them to my mom and my mother-in-law.  Sometimes the creativity is just not flowing, though, and I look all around for new ideas.  This year the Knit-Rite/Therafirm team got some inspiration from our own products.  The best part is, we were able to use products from several of our brands to create these adorable sock bouquets.  They’re cute and easy enough for the kiddos to do, too.  Watch our demonstration video below!

List of Supplies Needed:

• Socks of multiple colors, shapes and sizes
• A pair of tights, pantyhose or a piece of fabric of similar size and length
• Rubber bands
• Safety pins
• Your favorite vase

We used some discontinued colors of our Preggers and Therafirm brands, as well as current colors of TheraSport, SmartKnitKIDS, SmartKnit and Therafirm.  Happy bouquet making!

5 Ways to Reduce Stress

In 2017, it’s hard to imagine life without stress.  Our world has become faster, busier and more complex.  There are more people on our planet than there ever have been.  And with more people come more violence, more disease, more pollution, more poverty.  It’s no wonder we’re stressed.  How can we avoid it?

But avoid it we must try to do, as stress can do as much damage or more than anything.  Stress can lower our immune systems, raise blood pressure, increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, increase vulnerability to anxiety and depression, contribute to infertility and hasten the aging process.

Since things that cause stress have become an avoidable part of our lives, what methods can we employ to lower our stress level in an attempt stay healthy?  Here are some great ways to lower your stress level:

  1. Meditate – According to the Mayo Clinic, one of the fastest ways to reduce stress is to meditate. Meditation can wipe away the day’s stress, bringing with it inner peace.  Anyone can practice meditation.  It’s simple and inexpensive, and it doesn’t require any special equipment.  And you can practice meditation wherever you are – whether you’re out for a walk, riding the bus, waiting at the doctor’s office or even in the middle of a difficult business meeting.

  2. Do yoga – Similar to meditation, yoga is a mind-body practice that combines stretching exercises, controlled breathing and relaxation. Yoga can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure and improve heart function. And almost anyone can do it.

  3. Get adequate sleep – Sleep is essential for stress management. Getting adequate sleep — between seven and eight hours each night — can help to reduce your stress levels. Sleep and stress go hand in hand – lack of sleep will contribute to stress, while increased stress makes sleeping difficult.

  4. Go for a run – Many people feel that running helps to reduce stress. Science tends to agree, as running releases endorphins, or the body’s “feel-good” hormones.  Studies have shown that runners tend to be happier and more stress-free than those who do not run.  And, running gives you a set amount of time to be alone with your thoughts.  Try a pair of Core-Sport by Therafirm gradient compression socks to increase athletic performance.
