Interesting & Fun FYI’s!

Fun DIY Sock Bouquets!!

As both a Mom and a Daughter, I completely believe in homemade Mother’s Day gifts.  I love getting these sweet gifts from my kiddos and I totally love giving them to my mom and my mother-in-law.  Sometimes the creativity is just not flowing, though, and I look all around for new ideas.  This year the Knit-Rite/Therafirm team got some inspiration from our own products.  The best part is, we were able to use products from several of our brands to create these adorable sock bouquets.  They’re cute and easy enough for the kiddos to do, too.  Watch our demonstration video below!

List of Supplies Needed:

• Socks of multiple colors, shapes and sizes
• A pair of tights, pantyhose or a piece of fabric of similar size and length
• Rubber bands
• Safety pins
• Your favorite vase

We used some discontinued colors of our Preggers and Therafirm brands, as well as current colors of TheraSport, SmartKnitKIDS, SmartKnit and Therafirm.  Happy bouquet making!

5 Ways to Reduce Stress

In 2017, it’s hard to imagine life without stress.  Our world has become faster, busier and more complex.  There are more people on our planet than there ever have been.  And with more people come more violence, more disease, more pollution, more poverty.  It’s no wonder we’re stressed.  How can we avoid it?

But avoid it we must try to do, as stress can do as much damage or more than anything.  Stress can lower our immune systems, raise blood pressure, increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, increase vulnerability to anxiety and depression, contribute to infertility and hasten the aging process.

Since things that cause stress have become an avoidable part of our lives, what methods can we employ to lower our stress level in an attempt stay healthy?  Here are some great ways to lower your stress level:

  1. Meditate – According to the Mayo Clinic, one of the fastest ways to reduce stress is to meditate. Meditation can wipe away the day’s stress, bringing with it inner peace.  Anyone can practice meditation.  It’s simple and inexpensive, and it doesn’t require any special equipment.  And you can practice meditation wherever you are – whether you’re out for a walk, riding the bus, waiting at the doctor’s office or even in the middle of a difficult business meeting.
  2. Do yoga – Similar to meditation, yoga is a mind-body practice that combines stretching exercises, controlled breathing and relaxation. Yoga can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure and improve heart function. And almost anyone can do it.
  3. Get adequate sleep – Sleep is essential for stress management. Getting adequate sleep — between seven and eight hours each night — can help to reduce your stress levels. Sleep and stress go hand in hand – lack of sleep will contribute to stress, while increased stress makes sleeping difficult.
  4. Go for a run – Many people feel that running helps to reduce stress. Science tends to agree, as running releases endorphins, or the body’s “feel-good” hormones.  Studies have shown that runners tend to be happier and more stress-free than those who do not run.  And, running gives you a set amount of time to be alone with your thoughts.  Try a pair of Core-Sport by Therafirm gradient compression socks to increase athletic performance.
  5. Get a massage – Studies have shown that massage can decrease levels of the stress hormone cortisol. The benefits of massage for stress relief include relaxation of muscles, an increase in circulation and a reduction in stress related pain.

4 Tips to Prepare Your Wardrobe for Spring & Summer

So it’s getting to be that awkward phase as we get closer to spring and summer (at least in our neck of the woods here in the Midwest). It seems like one day you need to dress warm with a heavier jacket and scarf, the next it’s a short sleeve top with sandals.

So how’s a girl to know how to bring in the warmer months with all the change? Luckily we’ve put together a few short tips for you to consider as you do your wardrobe “spring cleaning”!

1)     Have a good mix of neutral and bright hues.

Every woman should have a nice set of core, neutral pieces in her wardrobe that she can mix and match throughout the year. That said, warmer weather means it’s time to transition to a brighter and more colorful palette! This spring and summer, colors like geranium and sea foam are expected to be pretty big so plan on investing in at least one piece that show cases one of these gorgeous hues. Want to know what other colors are expected to trend this spring?

2)     Look for deals.

Retailers everywhere have been gearing up for their Spring sales and promotions and are getting ready to launch. Don’t be afraid to call in, email or even visit in-store and ask exactly when your favorite clothing stores plan to run their sales. You’ll definitely want to take the opportunity to do a little shopping around to see what deals are out there. Once you know, plan to mark it down so you can hit the store on sale day and you’ll be considered one savvy spring shopper!

3)     Clean out your closet.

If you’re anything like the average person, you only wear 20 percent of the clothing that’s in your closet anyway – so make some room and throw the clothing you don’t plan to wear (or haven’t worn in years) out! Reasons for keeping old clothing include sentiment, setting weight goals or waiting to find “the right piece you just know you’ll find to go with it one day” – Dream on! If you haven’t worn it yet, chances are you won’t. Give your unwanted apparel to a family member or donate to a local charity – You’ll be glad you did.

4)     Invest in year-round, transitional clothing.

Accessories and clothes that are easily mixed and matched all year round can save you a great deal of money. Additionally, it makes switching from Summer to Fall later in the year much less of a hassle! Head over to Café Mom or search Pinterest for some year-round accessory and clothing ideas. Speaking of year-round, did you know that wearing GOGO keeps your legs cool and dry even during the summer?

So in short, if you take the time to incorporate these tips into your wardrobe planning schedule you will be prepped and ready to go for spring and summer – and save time for the next seasonal wardrobe shift!

3 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About GOGO

You may already know a thing or two about GOGO. For example, you might have known for a while now that all GOGO products are 100% made in the USA. You may even already know that Therafirm, the producers of GOGO, have been a leader in manufacturing healthy gradient compression for over the past 50 years.

However, some lesser known yet equally impressive benefits of wearing GOGO include. . .

1) Anti-Aging For Your Legs

As you age, the skin on your legs becomes less elastic and smooth. Additionally, factors like tanning, stress, and habitual leg-crossing help accelerate the aging process in the form of dry, rough, skin that takes longer to heal or also as common, varicose veins. Habits like these not only dry out your skin causing them to look older, but also slowly inhibit the circulation of blood that travels through your legs.

The true gradient compression of GOGO, which provides a controlled amount of pressure greatest at the ankle that gradually decreases towards the top of the stocking, helps promote better blood circulation, energizes tired legs and feet, prevents swelling and keeps your legs looking and feeling young.

2) Micro-Cool® Technology To Keep You Cool During the Warmer Months

GOGO by Therafirm® uses the most up-to-date technologies and beautiful and comfortable fibers in the industry to create superior, quality garments. The breathable panty liner and Micro-Cool® process are additional comfort features of our healthy beautiful legwear. What is Micro-Cool® you ask? Micro-Cool® creates a wicking effect so moisture evaporates from the skin quickly, therefore providing a comfortable coolness, making GOGO perfect for the warmer months. Check out these gorgeous Spring & Summer style inspirations for GOGO pairing ideas!

3) Shaping Support for a Flattering Figure

Many women simply appreciate wearing light compression products like GOGO because they make their legs and feet feel great. However, GOGO true gradient compression also provides shaping support with an upper panty that is made to flatter the figure. Some products interchange the terms “compression” for “shaping” or “support” but with GOGO, wearers get to experience the best of both worlds.  As an added use, several women who’ve worn GOGO say they like to wear them during workouts, as the light compression keeps everything “in its place”, minimizing movement for an optimal workout experience.

Of course you can read all day long about the benefits of wearing GOGO, but you’ll never know until you try them for yourself: Browse our variety of different styles in new, Spring & Summer colors here.
